War! Soldiers Battle with Police

Information reaching this press says that a group of unidentified gunmen deemed to be soldiers, attacked the police stations at Waterloo on the night of Monday 21st September. This group, which is believed to be military men stationed at Benguema Training Barracks, attacked and vandalized the two police stations at Waterloo in a bid to free one Barry Jalloh who is said to be a recruit in the Sierra Leone Army.

Mr. Jalloh who was said to be dressed in full military uniform was arrested and brought by few okada riders who alleged that he had once robbed one of their colleague’s okada bikes, which he borrowed for a ride. Mr. Jalloh was mercilessly beaten before he was brought, handcuffed and detained in the police station reports say.

According to community sources, a group of military men approached the police at noon and pleaded for the release of their comrade but that the police out rightly refused, which led to the forced retrieval of the recruited soldier. Before the night raid on the police station, the group of army men left word in the afternoon that they will discipline the police if their friend was not released that very day; but that the police took the threat for granted.

The police have kept tight lips on the matter refusing to tell media men what actually transpired.
