Ports Authority striker departs for Norwegian trial

After helping his club, Ports Authority win the Sierra Leone premier league, striker, Donald Wellington aka ‘Kobor Kobor’ today departs the shores of Sierra Leone to commence a two weeks trial with Norwegian top division club Stabæk Fotball.

The trial which was scheduled for July 15 is expected to commence on July 26 and will last for two weeks.

The 18-year old goal poacher was spotted in June during Leone Stars training sessions for their match 2012 Nations Cup qualifiers against Niger in Freetown a match which the striker made his senior national team debut.

The striker before his departure said he is determined to give out is best and succeeds in the trials.

He said: “I’m happy at last I will be going for the trials, I’ll not waste this chance because it’s my dream to play professional football. I will give out my best and I’m confident that I’ll succeed because I believe in myself.”

Wellington finished third with six goals in the just concluded Sierra Leone Premier League and he was the highest goal scorer of the 2009/2010 league netting 13 goals.

Stabæk Fotball are one of the top clubs in Norway as they are presently 5th position in the 16 teams Eliteserien league and are three points behind the leaders Tromsø IL.
