Navy arrests 2 boats at sea

Sam Try and Arc En Ciel boats loaded with drugs and other food items have been arrested by a joint team of military and police personnel Thursday 30th at the Susan’s Bay at Big Wharf.

Speaking to this press, Sub Lt. David Caulker attached to the Naval Wing at Government Wharf said he was instructed by the commandant, Major John Daniel Bangura to patrol the Susan’s Bay seaside and as result intercepted the two boats for inspection.

He however disclosed that items found in the boats were cartons of tablets, bed nets, Syrup, Syringe, pegapak, ointment, surgical spirits, palm oil in drums, etc.

He also disclosed that the patrol team arrested a total of 19 people as crews of both ‘Sam Try’ and ‘Arc En Ciel’ boats respectively.

He furthered that the boats have been handed over to the police for further investigation.

 UNICEF officials also visited Government Wharf to ascertain whether the drugs arrested are those meant for the free health care programme.
