IB Kargbo Boys thrash Ministry of Trade & Industry 6-0
The Ministry of Information and Communications’ soccer team known as the “I.B Kargbo Boys”, last Sunday thrashed the Ministry of Trade and Industry 6-0 in the ongoing Inter-Ministerial football tournament at the National Stadium in Freetown.
Ministry of Information and Communications Skipper, Kwame Yankson scored the curtain raiser in the 15th minute of the first half from a from powerful header leaving the Ministry of Trade goalkeeper helpless. Five successive goals followed after the break from Omo Johnson, Kassim and Daniel George, with the latter scoring two goals each.
This victory has qualified the Ministry of Information and Communications to the quarter finals of the tournament. It is more likely that the “I.B Kargbo boys” will play against the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) in the quarter finals scheduled for Saturday 21st May, 2011.
Hon. Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo congratulated his boys for their remarkable performance and encouraged them to continue until the trophy is won. “As information and communications technology is leading the world, so shall you emerge champions of the Inter-Ministerial football tournament,” the Minister said.
Football analysts have tipped the Ministry of Information and Communications as potential winners of the maiden Inter-Ministerial football competition trophy. According to Hon. Chernor Bah aka “Chericoco”, “the Ministry has a composed side with a lot of retired and experienced footballers; you need to watch them carefully”.
