APC Mining Policy Unveiled Today
The Minister of Mineral Resources Alpha Kanu yesterday during the weekly Ministry of Information press briefing stated that the government will formerly unveil their new Mines and Minerals Act today at State House.
According to Mr. Kanu, the basic structure and element of the Bill will be discussed for the benefit of the public, and media practitioners will be given the opportunity to either oppose or input contributions.
Alpha Kanu confessed that the delay in not presenting the new mining policy was due to what he termed “constraints”. The minister further noted that gold is one amongst the many natural minerals since colonial days that has been mined on a very small scale and that as a result Gulf Gold; a gold company has been making findings ways the country will able to engage in large scale mining of gold and that such findings and recommendations will be made public at the same press conference in due course.
