Windfall for ARD clients
Scores of clients at the annual raffle of the Association for Rural Development (ARD) Freetown central branch on Liverpool Street past Saturday heaped enormous praises on the association for doling fabulous prizes to them as a token of their commitment in paying back their loans on time. Welcoming the mammoth crowd at the auspicious event, the branch manager, Samuel A.C Davies pointed out that the Annual Raffle draw is in consistence with the ARD corporate social responsibility.
Mr. Davies mentioned that it is their tradition to give back a portion of their profit to clients who have been doing so well in paying back loans obtained through micro-financing. He added that it is a formidable way of encouraging their clients to be earnest and diligent in their undertakings and that his association is being considered to be the leading micro-finance institution in the country.
The Executive Director of ARD, Mr. Ali Fornah mentioned that ARD is the biggest and most sustainable micro-finance non-governmental organization in the country doing business with hundreds of clients across the country since inception in 1998.
Mr. Fornah lauded the clients for their usual cooperation over the past years and entreated them to be very watchful in their business dealings with some other micro finance institutions in the country as there are allegations and rumors of deceitful institutions operating in a guise to fleece business people of the hard-earned gains.
The Executive Director pledged that ARD has been so consistent in their commitment to serving the growing population of the business community in the country coupled with it’s allegiance to alleviate poverty in line with the agenda for change in the PRSP 11. He then mentioned that the ARD is here in Sierra Leone for good.
In his brief remarks, co-founder of the association, Alhaji Kanja Sesay encouraged clients to remain committed in their dealings with the association as they are sure to be prosperous. He entreated them to pay their loans regularly pointing that “the more you pay, the more other potential clients stand to benefit”. He congratulated winners of the various prizes and encouraged others that there is more to it than this as there are more goodies in store for the losers. Prizes in the raffle draw were categorized in groups and individual segments and they include, a star prize of a brand new refrigerator, cash prize of one million and five hundred thousand Leones, bags of rice, bags of onions, Irish and sweet potatoes, jerry cans of cooking oil and palm oil, bags of flour, garri, sugar and other cooking items and cartons of detergent powder, dozens of plastic bowls, cups, and various other attractive items. The star prize for the group was won by the Ever Green group while individual loan star prize of a refrigerator was won by Festus Mansaray. On receiving his prize, Festus said he is overwhelmed by the gesture and believed that it is a token of his commitment to adhering to the payment of his arrears in time. He lauded the ARD for their continuing growth.
