Foursquare Offers Free Medication

A one day free medical treatment was offered to the people of Juba Hill on Tuesday October 27th by the Foursquare Gospel Church. It could be recalled that the Foursquare Ministry have over the years been periodically involved in providing free medication to the people of Sierra Leone. The programme was held at Collia Compound Juba Hill, Lumley with over one hundred and fifty beneficiaries.

In an exclusive interview with the National Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church, Rev. Peter Kargbo revealed to SEM that besides preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, his Ministry is also committed to contributing to the development of the country and people in diverse ways, including: Education, Agriculture, Health and Economic intervention programmes.

congregationRev. Kargbo maintained that this was not the first time of offering free medication to the people of Sierra Leone, over the years they have been giving free treatment to thousands of less privileged Sierra Leoneans across the country from places like Makeni, Kamakwie, Wellington and Central Freetown, the biggest he said offered free medication to more than one thousand people in three days at Miatta Conference Centre-Youyi Building Freetown. He said that in 2007 alone they sponsored 22 successful major operations.

The man of God further disclosed that it is their tradition to contribute in providing some of the needs to the poor by means of giving them free medication as part of their annual convention.

The free medication he said is done only in spiritually terms, but the physical need are also not left unattended to. For this year’s programme, he said, Juba Hill Community has been featured noting that the Ministry is targeting the poorest communities in the country. He however went onto say that he will never forget the focus of his Ministry maintaining that the Foursquare Gospel Church is born to “spread the word of God to all nations of the world as dictated by Matthew 24:14”.

The Leader of the six man Medical Team and Ministers, all from the United States of America, Pastor Edd Sweet told this press that the vision of the Ministry is to bless the hearts of people across the globe, he added that they have very special interest in Sierra Leone which said was the reason they have decided to come to the country to empower the people both physically and spiritually but that in all it all, the health of the people must be a paramount thing to consider, education and agriculture are also part of their vision for Sierra Leone which according to him was the reason he has chosen to come to the country every year in support the work of God in the country.

The 52 year old Minister of God further noted that he has a great passion for the people of Sierra that is why he has left his wife; two sons and daughter for the seventh time to cater for the interest of destitute Sierra Leoneans who he said “are like sheep without shepherd; the Lord Jesus commissioned us to serve as shepherd for his sheep and that is what we here doing in Sierra Leone” he said.   His expectation he said, is to see that every Sierra Leonean hear and know the name of Jesus whom he referred to as the ultimate authority over mankind.

Terah Sankoh, a beneficiary of the free medication programme together with her three children told our reporter that they are very much appreciative for the offer by Foursquare Church as according to her, the service offered to them could have cost them a fortune.

The programme is said to continue with revivals, pastoral conferences and thanksgiving on the Wednesday 28th October to Sunday November 1st this year.
