Le 113 Million Stolen

Reports reveal that the sum of Le113 M Leones has disappeared from one of the offices at the Ministry of Finance. Other reports have also alleged that Alhaji Jalloh one of the security personnel of Dele Security Agency a made visit there last Friday for reasons that are not clear. Up till now Ministerial Officials could not give confirmed statement as to how this huge amount got missing. While the Police Headquarter is located very close to the Ministerial Building; the police and authority could still not have headway into the matter.

Hajj Trip Made Easier

Over the years, Muslims of this country have been finding it difficult to make pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Mecca. In the previous years visas to Mecca were issued out in Conakry, Guinea; but following the Military instability in the country; pilgrims who intend to make trip to Jeddah would now access visas in Sierra Leone.

Meanwhile, with the confidence bestowed on the security situation on Sierra Leone, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has dispatched two of its citizens to issue out visas to those who intend to do Hajj this year.

Medical Practitioner Threatens to Kill Journalist

An attempt to kill a journalist that reported on the Lungi government hospital is an attack not only to the fourth estate but to the entire nation. It could be remembered that two weeks ago similar threat was made on the life of renowned journalist Tatafway Tumoe for reporting on town mining in Kono. Sierra Leoneans should be cautioned that such threatening remarks in the mouths of citizens are unfortunate, especially from the mouth of a medical doctor.

ACC Intends Award

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), in a drive to alleviate corruption will be giving out awards to both individuals and institutions on an exclusive ceremony come December 9th this year. The awards would be given to well meaning Sierra Leoneans and institutions as partial observance of this years International Anti-Corruption day on 9th December 2009. According to the Commission, the national integrity award will be held in a bid to inspire others to do more in the fight against corruption.
