Football back in Cairo, Egypt

After a month of mayhem in the Egyptian capital Cairo, Football finally returned to fans as they watched one of their leading clubs Zamalek eliminate Ulinzi of Kenya in a previously postponed African Champions League match.  (Photo: Zamalek, Ulinzi in action)

The encounter was originally slated for Feb. 12 but was postponed for a fortnight because of the turmoil in Egypt. The Orange Champions league match was watch by 22,000 fans at Cairo Military stadium.

It was the first official football match in the capital Egypt since the turmoil that see former president Hosni Mubarak resigning after 30 years in charge of the North African nation.

Zamalek are now through to the next round of the competition but they will have to wait for further fixtures in Cameroon and Tunisia to know their opponent for the next round.

The winner will secure 1.5 million dollars and a 2011 Club World Cup place.
