Who will reunite PMDC?

It stands as an indisputable fact that the People’s Movement for Democratic Change, (PMDC) is currently captured in the web of  political intrigues with solutions hard to come by for leader of the party Charles Francis Margai.(Photo: Charles Francis Margai)

With all due respect to Lawyer Charles Margai, I believe he has proved not only to the people of Sierra Leone who were yearning for a change from the APC/SLPP but also to himself as a disappointment to Sierra Leone. Political pundits who were viewing Margai as the right leader who will bring betterment to the people of Sierra Leone in being the much needed benevolent dictator have said he is a disappointment to them.

It goes without saying that Margai can no longer practice what he preaches. The expectations his followers, especially his able lieutenants had for him has been eradicated due to his attitude and behaviour. Unlike other great leaders, Margai does not consult with anyone, and above all lacks the ability to bring people together. There is a need for a change in the attitude of Mr. Margai if he wants to lead the people of Sierra Leone into the change he has been claiming all this while.

Currently, there is a big split in the PMDC. After the PMDC delegate conference in Kenema, the split widened and matters were not helped in the position clearly taken by the new executive.

In the first place, the newly elected executive has done little or nothing to bring these aggrieved members back to the party, instead, they seem to be creating a divide and rule policy at a time when the party needs personalities and therefore votes. Due to the present situation in the party, mass resignations have been the order of the day not only here in Sierra Leone but in the Diaspora where PMDC members have been registered.

The million dollar question is will the PMDC as a party be able to contest the 2012 election financially?

When PMDC’s financial pillars like Dauda Tombo Bangura and Femi Abron decided to abandon the PMDC ship, it spelt the initial doom for the party. A lot of people saw the writing on the wall but they refused to see the signs.

Is the PMDC a political party that is administratively sober? This is the question.

Can it be true that the PMDC MP’s in Bonthe and the Mayor of Bonthe Municipality have both abandoned the party and have returned to the SLPP because they believe that the PMDC’s National Executive is aware but yet cannot change matters as they stand?

Can it be further true that Mr. Charles Margai refused to participate in a Tele-conference with PMDC Diaspora members organized by Steve Googi as a way of healing the split and ironing out differences for the furtherance of the party, but this peace venture instead ended up fruitless?

If PMDC as a party is ready to bring aggrieved members of the party back into the fold, the party should look for all members at home and abroad irrespective of the fact that they might be conceived as enemies of friends.

Few evidence have proved that the newly national executive of the party cannot no longer take correct decision on behalf of its members so I will have by chosen Rev. Johnson as the only suitable one that the party will use to unify the party and further choice is but a clear sign of further destruction.
