Usman Boie Kamara – Sierra Leone’s vision to a brighter future
Usman Boie Kamara, a household name in Sierra Leone, is an aspiring leader who has the vision and integrity to bring a quality of life to all Sierra Leoneans regardless of party, tribe, or gender.
Usman is known for his warmth, personal integrity, compassion, generosity, and infectious smile. He is highly educated and has the right ingredients for a leader; he has intelligence, confidence, courage, authority, discipline, devotion to duty, integrity, and a sense of purpose and direction. He is also relentless in his philanthropic work in Sierra Leone within the Muslim and Christian communities.
Usman has all the qualities to lead Sierra Leone into a brighter future
Usu Boie as he is commonly known, is a professional mining engineer, former Director of Mines in the Ministry of Mineral Resources who served his country with an unblemished record in the mining sector for 37 years. He also plays a prominent part in this sector through his international mining consultancy.
After starting his career as a Government Mining Engineer in Kenema in 1972, he worked his way up the administrative ladder to attain the position of Director of Mines in 2008. During his career in the mining sector, his expertise took him to advise other countries in Africa, as well as the United Kingdom.
As the representative of the Sierra Leone Government he was one of the main architects’ of the very successful International Kimberley Process Certification Scheme and served as Co-ordinator and Chairman for its West African Group of Countries. He was instrumental in setting up the Diamond Area Community Development Fund (DACDF), used to assist mining communities and the Rehabilitation Fund which was founded to reclaim previously mined out areas.
In his campaign, Usu Boie puts education at the forefront of development of Sierra Leone. Education is a major factor that needs addressing in order for citizens of Sierra Leone to develop personally, thus having a counter effect on the development of our country. A substantial education reform will mitigate brain drain, increase domestic spending, raise the GDP, and provide a stronger educated work force.
Sierra Leone has suffered through bad governance, with previous administrations putting their own wealth before that of their subjects. With Usu Boie this will change, he is a caring person who will put his country first; he is at home with people on all steps of the social ladder, from all regions, religions and ethnic groups of Sierra Leone and has established long standing friendships with many. In this regard, he is a potentially powerful unifying force at a time in our history when ethnic sensibilities in certain quarters are heightened and stirred.
Usman Boie Kamara is a lifelong member of the SLPP, and if the party gives this aspirant the chance to lead, he believes a united Sierra Leone, along with his vision and dedication, will be a formidable asset to lead the country to its rightful place in the world come 2012, and his determination and experience will inspire his country and people to develop and prosper.
