FK Haugesund unveils Zangallay

Sierraexpressmedia.com can authoritatively reveal Umaru ‘Zangallay’ Bangura was presented Monday 29 November 2010 as the new FK Haugesund player. The 23-year-old Sierra Leonean has played for Honefoss in recent years.  (Photo: Umaru with his FKH shirt)

Now he is ready for a new challenge after his former side Honefoss BK was relegated from the Norwegian Tippeligaen. His agent Tony Finningan believes Bangura is a perfect investment.

“It’s no secret that his dreams are of playing in the big league, the Premier League one day. I think he’s more than good enough, too, but he is still young and may well develop further in Norway”, says Finningan.

The player was valued for not more than 10million in Norway; he’s the right age and a great investment,” said Vågnes, describing Bangura as a serious type of player in training and in the field of play.

The midfielder also has a history in the English club Watford. He joined Hønefoss on loan from Watford in 2006 and has played with the club since.

“Bangura is an exciting player that we think we can develop further. I think he will get a boost,” said FKH coach Jostein Grindhaug.

Bangura played 27 games for Hønefoss last year. His team were relegated and the 23-year-old scored two goals and had two assists.

“I am happy to be placed in Haugesund. A club that plays a type of football that I like” said Bangura.
Bangura says that Rosenborg, Brann and Aalesund wanted his service. “But FKH is the right club for me. I think I’ll fit in and have opportunities to develop myself as a footballer,” he said.
His contract with Hønefoss runs out after this season and therefore he comes free to Haugesund. Bangura and FKH have signed a three-year contract.

He made his senior international debut for Sierra Leone on September 3, 2006 in the 2008 African Nation Cup qualifying in Freetown. Bangura is an automatic starter for Sierra Leone. He played full 90 minutes in all six games for Sierra Leone during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and Nations Cup qualifiers against South Africa.
