So ‘Harmony’ Owes NRA USD 1.5 M?

Lips of Sierra Leoneans went confused when it was revealed that ‘Harmony Company’ owed the Sierra Leone National Revenue Authority (NRA) USD 1.5 M.  (Photo:  Junior Koroma)

‘Harmony Company,’ an organization allegedly registered by Sylvanus Junior Koroma, the younger brother of President Koroma, continues to flout laws as called for by law.

The company, according to findings, imports rice into Sierra Leone for business.

Sources say Harmony Company, in the past, accumulated custom payments to the tune of $1.5 M United States dollars.

That officials of NRA negligently ignored the unquestionable payment of USD 1.5 dollars owed Sierra Leone by ‘Harmony Company.’

It has reached this press that a certain Lebanese (name withheld) was at fore in the manipulation of payment of monies owed the NRA.

It must be noted also that the ineligibility of ‘Harmony Company’ from the contract to supply rice to the Army came as a result of series of irregularities and flaws detected by persons designated to do the award.

Sources say the name ‘Harmony’ later metamorphosed into Sierra Commodity Company and successfully made its way into snatching the Army rice contract from the already contracted company- African Sunshine Company.

Credible information states how the brother of President Koroma, tactfully replaced Sierra Commodity in place of Harmony; thus compelling jittery and politically tilting officials (officials of national procurement office) manipulating and cause a redo of the Army rice contract to his favour.

Facts, as told to this press, revealed reasons leading to the quick sinking of Harmony Company nay the beginning of Sierra Commodity.

That Harmony Company’s uncalled for refusal to pay dues owed the NRA, its intention to snatch the Army rice contract from African Sunshine, are reasons that ignited the birth of Sierra Commodity Company.

It has reached desks of the Sierra Express Media that Sylvanus Junior Koroma, lawlessly roam offices in the guise of ‘President’s brother,’ scaring and influencing officials to give his company government contracts.

Reliable information reaching this press states how the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) ignored questioning officials of NRA for failing to cause payment of monies Harmony Company owed them, but rather, invites the Defence Minister, Paloh Conteh 12 consecutive times and his Director Mani Koroma, 60 times to answer to allegations that they both flouted procurement laws during periods of awarding the Army rice contract to African Sunshine.

To be continued.
