Sunday – Allsvenkan AIK vs Elfsborg

Finally the Swedish Allsvenkan have arrived at the 29th round and AIK on Sunday at 17:00 takes on IF Elfsborg in the last league encounter and it is a very important match for Sierra Leonean born Mohamed Bangura (in photo).

Bangura and his side will be going into this all important match with a two straight victory that means they should be full of confidence despite the odds that they are coming out of a long and tough season holding their grip in the Swedish top flight for next season.

Before the match fans will be going on Halloween celebrations outside the southern grandstand and pub AIK Corner at the East gallery, is open from 15:00 pm.

“Welcome to another thrilling match at Råsunda,” were Head Coach Alex Miller’s words to the AIK fans. – It is the last home game and we hope that as many as possible will turn out at Råsunda and support us. We want to have the opportunity to express our thanks for all the support during this very tough season. Hopefully we can make Sunday a great AIK-day. Come to Råsunda and scream until the team to a victory!

Meanwhile, Alex commented on their last league encounter of an incredibly comfortable victory against Halmstads BK.  “It was a difficult match with difficult weather conditions.  Both teams worked hard to take control of the match. We did not come up to the level that we wanted in the first half and they had a few scoring opportunities. We gave the ball away too easily in the first half and had problems with our defense game.

I concentrate only on AIK. There have been some surprising results in the fall and I am sure that there are some more surprising results over the rounds remaining. A victory on Sunday means that the premier contract can be clearly dependent on Atvidaberg’s results on Monday.
We care only about our next game and will do anything to win! This is however no easy fight, Elfsborg are a top team and we have to come up at the right level.

Fact! After Elfsborg’s comeback to Allsvenkan in 1997 they have not been a favorite opponent for AIK in the Råsunda. In the twelve Premier Division home games, the teams have taken note of three wins each and the six matches have ended in a draw. AIK has not scored at home to Elfsborg since 8 May 2006 in Wilton Figueiredo wrapped 2-0 in the 83rd minute. In the 89th minutes, both the Daniel Alexandersson, Anders Svensson (penalty) goal for the guests and silenced a shocked home crowd.

The latest victory was concluded on 20 September 2003, AIK won 4-0 after goals by Derek Boateng, Mats Rubarth, Main Page and Karl Corneliusson. 1-0 target was, moreover, Boateng’s first in the AIK-shirt.

Neither AIK nor Elfsborg have any players off on Sunday.
