Navy Ship Visits Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone was blessed this week by the visit of a navy ship from the Netherlands Johan De Witt, Ben Beckering the captain of the vessel intimated Journalists that went onboard the ship that is one of the largest vessels ever made. It contains a commanding post hospital, airport hotel and contained seven hundred beds and travels 600 kilometers within a day.

The purpose of the visit was to create partnership and to provide training and safety measures on maritime management with theory counterparts in Sierra Leone. Further reports indicate that the vessel is in Sierra Leone for a-two-way learning and share maritime skill with their colleagues in Sierra Leone.

Ejectment Notice to Slum Dwellers

The Freetown City Council (FCC) has plans to evict city slum dwellers in a bid to improve on their environments. So far, three slum communities have been identified for this community development project. Among the few earmarked for this project are Kroo Bay in the city centre, Moyiba community in Kissy and Tengbeh Town community in the west and of Freetown.

These were the words of the Minister of Information Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo speaking over Ben Television, London, United Kingdom. He said, this Government is putting strategies in place to see that Sierra Leone becomes the El-Dor-Ado of Africa where people would draw reference from when talking about developed nations in the world. The Minister also called on the collective efforts of Sierra Leoneans both in abroad and home based in making this dream come true.

It has become a common scene to read that Sierra Leonean born Sarah Mansaray from Kabala is been maltreated in the hands of her compatriots and the Libyan authorities. As the news about her bondage in Libya is becoming an eyesore on our local tabloids and at the same time monotonous to our ears, one might he tempted to ask what is the Sierra Leonean Embassy in Libya doing about this unfortunate situation?
