Pitso hail Teko Modise ahead of Leone Stars clash
South Africa head coach Pitso Mosimane has said he believes in Teko Modise (in photo) as he named him in his 22-man squad.
I believe in Teko “Teko is a brilliant player” – these were Pitso Mosimane’s words to journalists after naming his team today.
The former player is one of the longest serving and highly-rated coaches in South African soccer having won several major trophies with Supersport United in recent years; he hinted Modise still has a long future with the national team.
Teko was booed off the pitch in a recent MTN8 match against Kaizer Chiefs, but Mosimane says he won’t drop him simply because he had “one bad game”.
“Teko, who is a former South Africa premier league player of the year, is very experienced, we need him in a game like this,” Mosimane said
Safa CEO Leslie Sedibe says he met Modise for lunch on Wednesday and the latter shows no signs of being under pressure bearing in mind his form has been a subject of intense discussion. “I met Teko for lunch yesterday and he is confident,” Sedibe added.
