Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Edward Turay, has commended Sierra Leone’s Consul General to Frankfurt, Walter M Bessler (in photo) for his good work in Sierra Leone.

High Commissioner Turay who is currently in Frankfurt, Germany for this year’s fund raising and cultural dance, told Bessler that although Frankfurt is not part of his area of responsibility, he was touched by Germany’s tremendous role and contributions towards the development of Sierra Leone.

“I am very impressed with what you’re doing for my country Sierra Leone and I see the need to come here and thank you on behalf of the Government and people of Sierra Leone,” Turay said.

The High Commissioner encouraged the Consul to continue his good work for the people of Sierra Leone and extended an invitation to him in London where his mission will be celebrating the country’s Golden Jubilee.

Responding, Bessler thanked the High Commissioner for the warm sentiments and praised the people of Sierra Leone saying it is a country with a great future.

“We should try to help Sierra Leone and give the people a great future,” Bessler said while cataloguing some of his contributions and assistances to Sierra Leone. These included a 40ft bus for Njala, medical items, school equipment and other humanitarian gestures.

Earlier, the Acting Chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC) German Chapter Mohamed Salieu Bangura, who coordinated the meeting, introduced the visiting team that includes Information Attaché Sorie Sudan Sesay, Finance Attaché John Ellie and the Chairlady of the APC German Chapter Ramatu Sesay.

Bangura described the High Commissioner as a hard-working man who studied as a lawyer in London and later went into politics.

Bangura described his Chairlady as a dying lieutenant who has made tremendous sacrifices not only for the party but also for Sierra Leonean women in Germany.
