Bai-Bai Sesay has a wealth of experience in journalism and he is highly knowledgeable in African affairs having traveled extensively within the sub-region. He has won several local and international awards and his appointment therefore comes as no surprise to many.

Sesay steps into the shoes of Abdul Rahman Swaray who held that position for several years. Swaray is now the new Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and also lecturer at the Mass Communications Department at Fourah Bay College. “I am delighted to step into Swaray’s shoes because I have been working with MFWA while he was out of the country”

The mission of MFWA is to promote, defend, protect, consolidate, and expand the fundamental freedoms of media and expression of citizens, communication professionals and organizations and human rights defenders in West Africa.

The Managing Editor of the Independent Newspaper Jonathan Leigh and Sorie Sudan Sesay, who once worked with Bai-Bai, described him as ‘a charismatic, efficient and hard-working journalist with a wealth of journalism experience.”
