Car washer dies in road accident

On Thursday 24th August 2010 at the junction of Tombo Park in Waterloo, a military truck from Freetown heading for the Benguema Training Centre (B.T.C) collided with a sand load of tipper truck, resulting in severe injuries, leaving a car washer dead.

According to one of the survivors, Abu Bakarr Barrie, at about 10:30 am he was sitting at the car wash together with his friend they saw the sand truck speeding from the Benguema Barracks end which he believed the driver lost control and hit a military truck, destroying market stalls in the park, before finally ramming into a pharmacy and crushing his friend to death.

Barrie said he too sustained injuries as result of the accident.

The corpse was immediately conveyed to the Connaught mortuary for post-mortem examination.
