Three accused granted Le10 million bail each

26-year old Sahr Musa of 77 Adelaide Street, Raymond Jones of 7 Sykes Street and Vidal Macauley of 10 Kroo Bay in Freetown were last Tuesday arraigned before Magistrate Steven Conteh of the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 to answer to two count charge of conspiracy to commit a felony, contrary to law, burglary and larceny Act 1916.

Police prosecution led by Inspector Samuel Kamara alleged that on Wednesday 17th August at 147Q Kandeh Drive, off Wilkinson Road in Freetown all accused persons conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony with burglary and larceny with intent to steal, broke and entered into the dwelling house of the complainant.

Defense lawyer, Pios Sesay applied for bail, which was objected to by Inspector Kamara on the ground that the first and third accused are ‘night carpenters’ who might commit similar offences especially now that it rains heavily at night.

Magistrate Conteh overruled his objection and granted the accused persons bail in the sum of 10 million Leones each and two sureties in like sum to be approved by the Master and Registrar of the High Court. The matter was adjoined to the 31st August 2010.
