Awareness raising campaign ahead of 2011 UK Census

Ahead of the March 2011 National Census in the United Kingdom, the Office of National Statistics, Local Authorities and other stakeholders have started an awareness raising campaign to encourage local people to take part in the national census in March 2011.

One organisation involved in this currently ongoing awareness drive is Community Action Southwark (CAS).

Through this initiative, CAS will engage Southwark’s most isolated and disengaged minority communities, to discuss the relevance of the census and how it affect normal day to day service delivery in the local area.

The campaign explains why it is so important for every Southwark’s household members to take part in the census, and weighs up the benefits and long term implications for all.

“We are emphasising the need to register and taking part in the census – that is why we have started this sensitisation drive to inform people on the importance of such a national programme,” said Juma Bah, Community Development Officer at CAS.
