Police arrest Indian national

This medium has been reliably informed that police officers on the 22nd August this year arrested an Indian national, Bilal Ahmed for attempting to buy and smuggle stolen rails out of the shores of the country.

According to sources, the rail is the property of the African Minerals Limited. The Resident Director of African Minerals in Pepel, Mohamed Sesay disclosed that he received intelligence from one of his colleagues, informing him about some unknown people loading remains of the rail in a Maerskline container with Registration Number MSK U 380422 (4) 22GI at PMB in Kissy.

He said upon receiving the tip-off he immediately drove to the PMB, searching for the said container which was later discovered.

The President of the Scrap Metal Association, Omotayoh McCarthy informed this medium via phone that they as national executive have done all they could to discourage people from stealing cables, rail and other valuable items to sell as scrap metals.

He pointed out that there are still some metal dealers that are involved in shady deals with foreigners, adding that his executive is doing all it could to arrest them.

During police investigation, the suspect, Bilal Ahmed confessed that he was contacted by two guys, Shacko and Abdul who informed him that they have scrapped spare parts for caterpillar machine to sell and they persuaded him to buy the items for Le 900.000 per tone.

The matter has since been handed over to the CID for further investigation.
