Togo striker Adebayor considers return to national

Emmanuel Adebayor could play for Togo again if the country’s football bosses meet certain conditions.

The Manchester City striker quit the national side after a terrorist attack on their bus travelling to the African Nations Cup in Angola in January.

“If the organisation improved and things became much better, I will definitely play for Togo again,” he told City’s official magazine, Manc.

“Not doing so has been one of the tougher decisions I have had to make.”

Adebayor was a very influential member of the Togo squad but some have accused him of causing trouble within the team.

“Because I have tried to explain things about the national team and tried to help my country, I have become the main focus when any problems arise and people point to me as the cause,” he stated.

“Whenever we have tried to do things [the right way] it has been taken in a negative way.”

Adebayor, who became a father for the first time in the summer, has said parenthood has changed his views on life.

“Things have obviously changed in the last year. I have a daughter now and I have to put her first. I am not going to put myself in situations where I am risking my safety, especially after what happened in Angola,” he added.
