Splash mobile money transfer launched the most advanced payment called Splash Pay Service at the Balamaya Restaurant at Congo cross in Freetown.

Managing Director of Splash, Mr. Michael Foley said splash pays practically anyone with a mobile phone to make payments for goods and services to participating merchandise free of charge for the customer.

As the use of Splash Pay is similar to the use of a debit card, the client having acquired splash cash through his payroll for a friend or by purchasing its free of charge can now use the splash cash to purchase a variety of goods and services.

He also went on to say that merchants have to provide the real convenience of cashless payment to their customers and Sierra Leoneans will enjoy the benefits of the world’s most advanced cashless payment system on cash card using just your phone.

He also added that they do not have an unlimited number of agents but they still have considerable room to grow anyone who wants to be a splash agent; that person should call at their contact centre, he said.

Mr. Sheka Forna, Chairman of the home grown in Sierra Leone said that they are very proud to announce that they have recorded one hundred agencies and they will continue to grow their distribution network day by day as they are working with all the mobile companies in the country.

He said they are on their way in meeting their expressed ambition of developing a network of agents who cover each chiefdom and town in the country.

He also mentioned that agents generate revenue for themselves by effecting transactions with clients and by using splash as a payment method of goods and services.

The company intends to grow its network of agents and merchants close to 300 by the end of this year, the Chairman disclosed

Splash is a network of neutral mobile money service, having the belief that an open, affordable and easy way to use mobile money service will contribute to the formalization of the economy, creating new opportunities for commerce. With a small amount of working capital, almost any trading business can become a splash agent.

Moreover, the benefit of free agent to agent commerce provides the convenience of splash to customers and creates new revenue streams.

The IT Director of the GTB, Olayemi Jinadu said that GTB started operations in Sierra Leone because they saw potential in the country. In 2008 the bank was approached by Splash in establishing business with them and that during the pilot phase of Splash, operation was improving, hence the bank thought it fit to do business with them.

On behalf of the bank, Jinadu congratulated Splash for a job well done.
